Heritage Weekly for January 7, 2009

Dear HOFC Family,

I hope 2009 is off to a good start for your family.

Reminders

* We are back at Waubonsee this Sunday with teaching time at 9:30 and worship at 10:45.
* We are having a fellowship meal this Sunday after service. If you are not sure what to bring ask Pastor Christensen! :^)
* Please remember Pat Emrick (Jeff’s Mom) in your prayers. Her cancer surgery is tomorrow.

Next week’s (3rd week of 2009) memory verse: Ephesians 2:8-10
(Review: Proverbs 3:5-6; Psalms 16:11)
I mentioned memorizing in ESV so we could recite together. There are a number of families that prefer a different translation. Please memorize these verses in your family’s preferred translation. Don’t sit out of this important activity because you memorize a different version! There are a number of solid English translations and any one of them would be great for hiding God’s Word in your heart.

What can I pray for my Pastor’s preaching?

I found this list recently and thought I would pass it along to you and ask you to keep my preaching in your prayers. Please pray for me:

1. to love God’s Word and have a desire to meditate on it continually (Psalm 119: 97)
2. to preach nothing but Christ and Him crucified (1 Cor 2:2)
3. to proclaim God’s Word with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power (1 Cor 2:4-5)
4. to comprehend the realities of God’s presence; the appearing and judgment of Christ Jesus, and in that light ‘preach the Word.’ (2 Tim 4:1-1)
5. to patiently and carefully correct, rebuke and encourage via the instrument of the Word of God, whatever the hostile climate to sound doctrine (2 Tim 4:2-3)
6. to boldly proclaim the gospel (Eph 6:19-20)
7. to be filled with the Holy Spirit (Eph 5:18)
8. to be clear in his proclamation (Col. 4:3-4).
9. to prepare God’s people for works of service through the teaching of the Scriptures (Eph 4:11ff)
10. to see some fruit from his preaching and teaching: some becoming wise unto salvation by the Scriptures (2 Tim 3:15), others being sanctified by the truth (John 17:17)
