Heritage Weekly for August 10, 2009

Dear Family,

We have two topics this week…both directed toward the men.

1) Here are some of the topics for discussion at the upcoming Elder/Head of Household meeting. The meeting is this Wednesday at the Politowicz home at 7 p.m.

- Fiel Adopt-a-Pastor program
- Sermon Audio membership for HOFC
- Date for Father/Son study of Ryle’s Thoughts for Young Men (free study guide/discussion questions HERE)
- Go with 6 or 12 lessons for the Reformation Overview (see attached option description)
- Determine who will be teaching/facilitating the Reformation Overview
- Will you serve with your son(s) at Wayside Cross?
- Shall we continue to have Celebrations of New Life during fellowship meals? We currently have no coordinator.

If you have other topics please email me by noon on Wednesday.

2) Do you believe in Hell and that people who do not believe in Christ are going there? Do you act like it? At our August men’s breakfast (8/22 – 4th Saturday) we will discuss the topic of hell. Please come prepared to discuss.

You might consider listening to Jonathon Edwards’ famous sermon Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God prior to our getting together. Or you can read it HERE.

Or HERE is a sermon on Heaven and Hell by Spurgeon. You can get the MP3 of the sermon at SermonAudio.com (at the time of publication the download was unavailable).

Next week’s (34th week) memory verses: 1 Timothy 4:8 (this week’s is Hebrews 12:1-2)
(Review: Romans 6:11-13; Jeremiah 2:13; Ephesians 1:3-6; Psalm 139:7-10; 2 Corinthians 4:16-18, Matt 22:37-40)
*If you have fallen behind or haven’t begun, don’t get discouraged! Skip to this week’s verse and start from there. Ask the Lord to help you to be diligent in hiding His Word in your heart. The review is for the second half of 2009.
