Seventy Weeks to Christ

This portion of Daniel has been the source of much confusion. By keeping several things in mind we’ll have a much better chance of understanding the Gabriel’s message. First, we must not forget the context of this prophecy: it is an answer to Daniel’s prayer. Second, a review of the Sabbath system in Israel of the Old Covenant is important to understand the numbers in the text. Third, this passage must be read as thoroughly christological.

Keeping these in mind, may we be encouraged by Gabriel’s prophecy of the seventy weeks (sevens).
