The Justification of Sinners

The first section of Romans (Rom 1:18-3:20) gets us to the place where we recognize our sinfulness and lack of righteousness. Once Paul gets us to this place with the bad news, he reveals God’s answer to the problem. This is also the beginning of the second major section of the letter which runs from Rom 3:21 through 8:39. This second section can be entitled “Righteousness Provided”.

Today’s text answers two important questions:

1. How can I be saved?
2. Why did God save me?
